Our Guests of Honour are award winning Vampire Authors Jason Nahrung and Kirstyn McDermott

Jason Nahrung grew up on an Australian cattle property and has 20 years’ experience as a newspaper journalist. He has been a director and judge for Australia’s premier speculative fiction awards, the Aurealis Awards. His writing has won the William Atheling Jnr award for Criticism or Review, been highly commended in the Aurealis Awards and been shortlisted in the Ditmars and the Australian Shadows. He completed his MA in Creative Writing on vampires in Australia.His debut novel, the paranormal thriller The Darkness Within, has also been published in Germany. He lives in Melbourne, where he is working on new dark tales.

Kirstyn McDermott was born on Halloween, an auspicious date which perhaps accounts for her lifelong attraction to all things dark, mysterious and bumpy-in-the-night-ish. She has been published in various magazines and anthologies, including Shadowed Realms, Southerly, GUD, Redsine, Southern Blood and Island. Kirstyn lives in Melbourne and is a member of the SuperNOVA writers group. Her short fiction has won Aurealis, Ditmar and Chronos Awards and her debut novel, Madigan Mine, will be published by Picador in August 2010.
